CD Redding was involved from the pre-construction phase, collaborating closely with the engineer and owners. CDR’s experienced team analyzed constructibility and identified efficiencies in both materials and scheduling. A key priority was eliminating the need for expensive large metal plates at connection points. Structural members underwent various CNC processes to create pockets, slots, and saddles, allowing components to be joined without the large metal plates.

This building was entirely constructed using innovative veneer-based Mass Ply Panels and other Mass Ply Products from Freres Engineered Wood. From posts and beams to walls and roof components, everything was made of Mass Ply. Once the panels and components were manufactured, they were machined using CNC technology to a tolerance of within 1/16 inch. Components arrived by truck and the building was assembled starting with 4” wood tilt-up wall panels, followed by newly certified 1.9E grade beams, which offer performance comparable to glulam but are more cost-effective. No wood was cut on-site, making the speed of construction truly impressive.
