Faced with increased costs of operating and maintaining a 92-year-old building, the Salem Family YMCA partnered with CD Redding to build a new 3-story, state-of-the-art community center on their existing downtown site across from the Oregon Capital Mall. This project began with the demolition of existing structures along with the environmental mitigation of on-site tanks and stormwater.
Engaging CD Redding early gave the YMCA a building partner with years of preconstruction and construction management experience. With CD Redding’s strengths in budgeting, the YMCA could focus on the several fundraising campaigns that would be necessary to fund this community project.
Our knowledge of both pre-engineered steel and concrete tilt buildings was valuable as the building came out of the ground. The new facility includes a natatorium, gymnasium, child care spaces, adult and family locker rooms, offices, and the Thrive Cafe and Community space. The wellness floor has locker rooms as well as training and fitness studios. The 3rd-story includes penthouse offices, a community room, a large outdoor terrace, and a rooftop ¼ mile-covered track, providing users with spectacular cityscape views.
CD Redding is proud to deliver this new facility to the Withnell Family YMCA, so they can continue their community tradition of building healthy spirits, minds, and bodies since 1892.
